One-Day Upper Kern Rafting Trips
- About
- Trip Options
Our one-day Upper Kern rafting trips offer the best road-accessible class III-IV rafting in California. There are a number of different sections of the Upper Kern River. Our guides pick and choose the best sections each day, which means you will always have a blast. Unlike the Lower Kern River, the Upper Kern is free-flowing, which means the river level fluctuates depending on snow melt.
A typical day starts with a warm-up run on one of the easier stretches and then builds to the more difficult sections, such as the Limestone Run, Chamise Gorge, or Ant Canyon. Halfway through the day we take a break for a relaxing and delicious lunch. Then it's back on the water, paddling some of the best whitewater in all of California.
Half-Day Trips
Half-day trips on the Upper Kern meet at our rafting center at 3:00 p.m. These trips feature some of the best whitewater on the Upper Kern, from class III to IV, and normally cover six miles of rafting. Download our Half-Day Upper Kern Trip Notes.
Thunder Run
When water conditions are ideal and a group with prior experience wants to run the biggest rapids, they can book our THUNDER RUN. This Class IV-V section is famous for some of the biggest drops in California. The Thunder Run is not for first timers or youngsters.
Double Lickities
This season, we are offering Double Lickety Split Class II and III runs on the Upper Kern. This affordable (only $60.00 per person) and famous trip is a quick way of sampling the terrific whitewater on the Kern River. There are no limits to the number of guests we can accommodate on this stretch of river and our minimum age is five. It is the perfect run for families with youngsters eager to get wet on a hot summer day. Guests who join us on the Lickity will receive a coupon towards their next rafting trip with Kern River Outfitters. Download our Double Lickety Trip Notes.
