Rafting on the Lower Kern
The furthest south of any Sierra river, the Lower Kern River roars down a narrow canyon with more Class III - IV rapids than any whitewater river in the west. This is Southern California's favorite rafting destination. We offer one and two-day trips on the Lower Kern every day from mid-May through September.
During the rafting season we have departures daily and our trip fare ranges from $348 to $408 per person. Prices are subject to a 3% Visitor Fee. Our Lower Kern campsite is just about halfway down the two-day stretch and well situated for one day raft trips. Because of our ideal location, both days feature Class III and IV rapids. One-day Lower Kern trips range from $188-$208 plus a 3% Visitor Fee.
The Lower Kern originates from Lake Isabella and, unlike most California rivers, the flows are reliable all season long. The water temperature gets close to 70 degrees in the summertime. On Mondays and Wednesdays we offer specially structured Family Rafting trips and we offer youth and group discounts. A trip down the Lower Kern makes for a terrific summer adventure for the whole family.
With the arrival of early winter storms we're looking forward to great rafting flows on the Lower Kern River in 2012. In fact, the Lower Kern will have the best and most reliable rafting conditions of any California river. Join us on this wonderful river. It is the best river rafting trip in California and easily reached from all of Southern California.
